Vladas Mieželis

Vladas Mieželis was born on October 26, 1894 in Jakštai village, Utena district. He graduated from a private high school in Moscow in 1916. In 1917 he began studying law at Moscow's Alexander II military academy and later at the University of Lithuania, receiving his law degree on September 19, 1926. From July 1, 1922 to June 25, 1940 he served for Lithuania's military court performing various duties. On November 23, 1938 he was promoted to brig. general.

On June 25, 1940 he was released from the military by the Soviets. From December 1, 1941 to July 1, 1944 he worked as a judge in Lithuania's Appeals Court. In 1944 he withdrew to Germany and came to the U.S. in 1949. While living in exile he worked in various leadership roles in Lithuanian exile organizations. After retiring he moved to Sun City, Arizona, where he continued to work on Lithuanian causes within the Arizona Chapter of the Lithuanian American Community. This is where he died and is buried.
