You and yours are cordially invited to a picnic in honor of Lithuania’s Independence hosted by the Lithuanian-American Community of Arizona at the South Mountain Pavilion in Tumbleweed Park, located in beautiful Chandler. The park, which has plenty of grassy open space and an extensive playground for children, is located at 745 E. Germann Road. To reach the park, take the 10 Freeway toward Tucson and then the 202 Freeway east to S. McQueen Road. Exit McQueen Road going south and make a right on E. Germann Road. The second left is S. Hamilton Street. Please take it and the parking lot is on the left. Expect cheerful Lithuanian music, hearty Lithuanian food (kugelis, sausage, Lithuanian sauerkraut, and of course sour cream!), cold refreshments, including Lithuanian beer, and very friendly people. Please bring your favorite desert to share as well as a prize for the loterija (lottery). Solidarity Contributions for membership as well as donations to the Lithuanian American Community can be made. Large, clean bathrooms are located a short walk from the pavilion. This is a great opportunity to get together, socialize, let the children play outside, and celebrate Lithuania’s hard-won independence. Meals are $12.00 and children under 16 eat for free. Lithuanian beer is $4.00 and domestic beer $2.00. Soft drinks are $1.00.
